Every day, people walk by commonplace items on the street without recognizing them, so one street artist decided to alter them and give them the recognition they deserve.
For artist Tom Bob, a parking lot is more than simply a slab of concrete. To him, this expanded shape represents a French fry that is only waiting to be realized. To the delight of onlookers, he transforms this and other abandoned fragments of the cityscape into vibrant figures and things.
Seeing the potential in an area, whether it be a wall of hoses, pipes, or a manhole cover, is the core of Tom Bob’s ingenious street art. These ordinary elements all have the potential to become something very remarkable. By revealing their inner potential, Tom Bob helps us see them for the pizza, worm, and daring pirate that they really are.
The focus of the artist’s creations is joy. “I want to turn random items from the street into whimsical, enjoyable characters that evoke awe and happiness,” Tom Bob stated. This is evident in Tom Bob’s thought process as well as the colours he selects. His vision of a world more lively and joyful is so delightful that it is impossible not to smile when you see how he realized that a blue pipe that matches the wall and is meant to be disguised might become an amazing anteater snout.
